Admission Test Sample for MSc in Mechanical Engineering can be found here.
• Students enrolling to Mechanical Engineering Master of Science (MSc) Program should take and complete at least 7 compulsory and elective courses which are not less than 21 credits. Students should also take Seminar course having no credits and they are evaluated as Success or Failure. At most, 3 out of 7 courses can be taken from other engineering departments in the Faculty of Engineering or other Faculties as long as these courses are in English.
• The aim of the Seminar is to prepare students for preparing and making informative seminars before they submit and defend their MSc Thesis. It is recommended that a student makes a decision about his/her thesis supervisor, makes a literature search for his/her thesis and presents this as his seminar topic, including what the problem is, what has been done in the literature and what he is trying to accomplish in his thesis.
Student will carry out seminar work based upon following guidelines.
The aim of Seminar is to make students learn an advance topic and prepare a report on it. Student is required to go to library and search the material either from journals or reference books to prepare (under the guidance of his/her supervisor) comprehensive report on a particular recent development in the field of Mechanical Engineering related subjects or to expand the particular topic learnt in class with the details. The additional aim of Seminar is for MSc students to present a comprehensive theses proposal outlining their research programme. Students can also use Internet to get information regarding his/her topic. He/she is required to submit and defend his/her work by oral examinations at the end of the term.
• In MSc program we have 2 mandatory courses. ME7001 Numerical Methods for Engineers and one of the Math courses (either ME7003 Advanced Mathematics for Engineers or ME7003 Advanced Mathematics for Engineers). The rest of the courses are selected by student and his/her advisor among elective courses, given at the following link.
Core MSc Courses
8 ME7011 Advanced Thermodynamics
Elective MSc Courses
• In Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program there are 2 mandatory courses to be selected among the Core PhD Courses. The rest of the courses are selected by student and his/her advisor among elective courses, given at the following link. However students should not select courses in random among whatever available. To accomplish this, students after one semester should select an advisor -to be their thesis advisor later- and select his courses to strengthen his/her background for his/her thesis work and PhD Qualifying exam (Sample)
Core PhD Courses
3 ME8003 Conduction Heat Transfer
4 ME8005 Design for Manufacturing
Elective PhD Courses
